6.4kW Solar & Battery Installation – Southampton

Project Type:
Solar Installation
Location/Area:
Hampshire
This homeowner wanted to reduce rising electricity bills and make better use of their daytime solar generation. By installing a battery alongside a new solar PV system, they aimed to increase self-consumption and reduce reliance on the grid, particularly during evenings and peak tariff periods.

The Challenge:

  • Split roof layout with panels required on two elevations
  • Partial shading during early morning hours
  • Limited internal space for battery and inverter installation

The Solution:

We designed a system using a hybrid inverter to allow seamless integration of solar and battery storage. Panel strings were optimised to minimise shading impact, and all equipment was neatly installed in a compact utility area to suit the available space. The system was configured to prioritise self-consumption and battery charging during the day, with flexibility for future tariff optimisation.

The Result:

  • Expected annual generation: ~5,800 kWh
  • Battery performance: Significantly increased evening and overnight solar usage
  • Customer outcome: Lower electricity bills, improved energy independence, and a future-ready system capable of supporting smart tariffs and EV charging
Solent Renewables made the whole process simple from start to finish. The system is easy to use, and we’re already seeing the benefits on our energy bills.
